On 23/09/2026, the breeder of our Ragdoll kitten brought the litter to your practice for their initial health checks, vaccinations and worming treatment. We were informed that our kitten had been assessed and deemed to be perfectly healthy. We therefore brought him home later that evening. We had him for less than two days when, within a matter of hours, I became increasingly concerned that something was not right. We immediately took him to our own veterinary practice, where we were extremely distressed to learn that he was severely underweight and in very poor health. Our vet diagnosed him with **atresia ani**, a congenital condition where the rectum/anus does not develop correctly, meaning he was physically unable to pass faeces. We were informed that his condition was life-threatening and that his colon could rupture within a matter of hours. Tragically, we were left with no option but to make the heartbreaking decision to have our new kitten put to sleep. This experience has been incredibly traumatic for both myself and my partner, particularly as this was our first pet and we had only just brought him home. What we find extremely difficult to understand is how our own vet was able to identify within seconds that something was seriously wrong, while your practice had examined him only hours earlier and deemed him to be healthy enough to receive vaccinations and worming treatment. We are extremely concerned that his underlying condition was not identified during his examination and that the treatments administered may have placed additional strain on an already critically unwell kitten. We feel deeply let down by the care and assessment he received. A congenital condition this serious should, in our view, have prompted further investigation given his extremely small size, weight and inability to pass stool. We would like you to investigate this matter thoroughly and provide us with an explanation of how he was assessed as healthy despite the severe and life-threatening condition he was suffering from at the time of his appointment. We sincerely hope that appropriate training and procedures can be reviewed as a result of this incident, so that another animal does not have to suffer unnecessarily or be placed at such significant risk in the future.

After finding out our female dog had breast cancer we were told that if we operated on breast cancer our dog wouldn't get it again. We couldn't believe it but listened to the vet who had said that with dogs it doesn't return, so we went ahead with the op.... Four weeks after, her cancer returned, to which a different vet responded we can't guarantee that we remove all of the cancer, as she was an old dog and the second op meant a bigger, nastier operation we decided to have her put down. We were told it was okay to have our children with her at the end until the vet advised they leave the room and finished her off with an injection straight into her heart, our dog shook violently and the whole thing was traumatic, we were never warned of this method and we are still baffled by the way they decided to euthanise. The icing on the cake was collecting her ashes to find out they were trying to charge us double the price they had given us over the phone.

Absolutely amazing vets we came here in a panic with our dog after being completely ripped off by vets4pets who’s prices were absolutely astronomical and still didn’t provide us with a solution just wanted more and more money. Geoff was brilliant he see us very quickly and treated our dog thoroughly with a clear plan for treatment at very reasonable prices. Will be moving all of our animals to purbrook AMAZING 🤩

Wife takes the pets here for any and all ailments, checkups etc. Also supply flea treatments and so on. Very popular, give excellent service etc. I'm not sure if they're taking on more clients (popularity has its downsides), if you're not currently a client you should call to check. Note there is a severe lack of parking. If you live locally then you could at least walk (assuming that's an option. There are only a couple of dedicated parking spaces outside (these are marked for patrons use). You might be able to find somewhere to park in the surrounding area depending on the time of day, alternatively do what my wife does and find a chauffeur (me) who can drop off and pick up. But the business is first rate and we are very lucky to have it so close to home.
